Phil Writes About Cube: White Cards in Shadows over Innistrad for Peasant Cube

Image
With Shadows over Innistrad fully spoiled, I thought it would be a good time to look at the different cards that I might want to add to my Peasant Cube. For reference my cube can be found here:  Cubetutor Link Let's dig right into white cards.  Paranoid Parish-Blade This Human Soldier is a 3/2 for 3, but if you have four or more card types in your graveyard, he is a 4/2 with first strike. In general, I am trying to push graveyard interactions/themes in my cube so Shadows over Innistrad came at the exact right time. My 3-drop section for white is pretty mediocre right now if you ask me, so this creature should help out there. I really like him in White Weenie and Wx Aggro decks. Pious Evangel / Wayward Disciple  This 3 casting 2/2 Human Cleric has a familiar "Soul Sisters" effect of whenever it or another creature enter the battlefield under your control, you gain 1 life. This can be good for aggro or token decks, but the added part of paying two, tapping...

Phil Writes about Basic Lands: Favorite Mountains

Image
I decided that I wanted to go though what lands I want to get for my cube. I am going to make a post for each basic land type for I remember which ones I want to get in the future. Continuing on, I have my favorite Mountains. Top 5 Favorite Mountain: Mirage   This is my all time favorite Mountain. I cannot tell you the exact reason why I like it so much, it just has always been my favorite.   M10 #243 Khans of Tarkir #265 The volcanic part of the art is what really gets me. I like the glow of the lava slowly starting to come out from under the rock and snow. Champions of Kamigawa #299 The Kamigawa block is one of my favorite blocks and the art of the lands is also some of my favorites, too! Champions of Kamigawa #301 What are you favorite Mountains and why? Let me know! Thank you, Philip Follow Us on Twitter! Like Us on Facebook! (Images via gatherer.wizards.com)

Phil Writes About Pokemon: Wonder Trade Wednesday - #07

Image
Rules: Roll 2 6-sided dice to determine number of trades. Select a Pokemon in the Wonder Trade box and trade them that many times. Repeat with how many different Pokemon I want. See what happens. I don't know if there is an actual point or not, but I thought it would be fun to see which Pokemon I get through the process. Trade 1 Dice Roll: 6 Start: Zebstrika -> Flabebe -> Slowpoke -> Flabebe -> Bulbasaur -> Froakie -> Pansage Trade 2 Dice Roll: 6 Start: Zigzagoon -> Growlithe -> Horsea -> Oshawott -> Stunfisk -> Eevee -> Ditto Ditto! That is always a fun one to get. Too bad I'll eventually trade him off again. Trade 3 Dice Roll: 4 Start: Eevee -> Girafarig -> Beldum -> Luvdisc -> Chingling Trade 4 Dice Roll: 7 Start: Claydol -> Oddish -> Mudkip -> Beedrill -> Riolu -> Fletchling -> Sandshrew -> Nincada Trade 5 Dice Roll: 10 Start: Bulbasaur -> Voltorb -> Sandshrew -...

Phil Writes about Basic Lands: Favorite Plains

Image
I decided that I wanted to go though what lands I want to get for my cube. I am going to make a post for each basic land type for I remember which ones I want to get in the future. Top 5 Favorite Plains: Shards of Alara #233  Since I started playing Magic, I have associated white with desserts for some reason so I have liked this land since Shard of Alara came out. I also really like the stars in the sky. Khans of Tarkit #252  Again, with the desert theme. I like the base that is there, too. Mirrodin #288 Portal Second Age Theros #233 For the rest, I just really like the art. These are just my opinions, though. Feel free to let me know which are your favorite Plains! Phil Writes About Apps: Daily Bracket

Image
I'm here again with another app that I use on my phone to make a little extra cash in my spare time. Today, we have Daily Bracket. Daily Bracket is a sports app store that has the user pick between the winner of 5 different games each day. If you pick 3 out of 5 of those winner correctly you gain one day on your 'streak.' Also, if you get 5 out of 5 you get 2 days added to your 'streak.' If you get your streak up to 60 days, you get $1 Million. Quite a bit of money. Surely, there must be more to it. The downside is if you get less than 3 out of 5 than you lose your current streak. and go back to 0 days. This might seem like an impossible task, guessing 3/5 of correct games for 2 months in a row, but there are shorter streak lengths that you can cash out at. What I do is get my streak up to 2 days which gives you $0.25, but it then sets your streak back to 0 days. There is not much money to be made here. There is a minimum of $20 for a cash-out on the ...

Phil Writes About Pokemon: Wonder Trade Wednesday - #06

Image
I  haven't done one of these in a little while, so I wanted to dive into another one. Trade 1 Dice Roll: 4 Start: Smeargle -> Zigzagoon -> Lotad -> Voltorb -> Eletrike Trade 2 Dice Roll: 8 Start: Aurorus -> Klefki -> Poochyena -> Axew -> Rhydon -> Solrock -> Magikarp -> Omanyte -> Zigzagoon That's a real bummer. Trade 3 Dice Roll: 3 Start: Cranidos -> Charmander -> Honedge -> Porygon Trade 4 Dice Roll: 4 Start: Poochyena -> Snorlax -> Duskull -> Bidoof -> Luvdisc Trade 5 Dice Roll: 5 Start: Mudkip -> Aron -> Wurmple -> Magnemite -> Machop -> ...

Phil Writes About Apps: letsRUMBL

Image
Today, I want to talk about an app called letsRUMBL. This sports app gives you roughly 500 coins when you start out. Then, you bet them against other users in amounts of 25, 50, 100, or 500 coins at a time by making 5 man teams each day. The teams are made up of players of one sport either Basketball, Football, Baseball, or Hockey depending on which is in season. It is pretty easy to get the hang of. For each match up, you receive a score for how well your players do like you would expect. Your highest score is entered in a weekly contest to see the top 8 scorers of the week are. The top 3 get a lot of coins with the top player getting 250,000 coins. It is hard to get in the top 8 so do not count of it being a regular thing. There are bonus ways to get coins like watching 5 ads a day gets you 100 coins per ad. Referrals are also a huge way to get coins, but I never both with the inviting people to the game type things. Once I grind your way up to 10,000 coins, I normally cash...

Phil Writes an Update: 3/15/2016

Hi! I wanted to start writing posts ever once in a while to explain what's going on in my life, and what give little previews of what other posts are coming up in the future. Overall, I want to start writing more and getting more posts out there for everyone to read. Let's get started. First, we moved to a new apartment. It is a lot quieter than our old one so hopefully life will get better than it was there. This new place is in a much better part of town and jobs should be easier to get here because they are only a 20 minute drive instead of more than an hour with traffic. On the lines of jobs, I have resumes applying for jobs since we moved here, but in the meantime I am still selling cards on TCGPlayer.com and doing MTurk. MTurk is an Amazon ran website where Requesters can put up tasks that reward a, usually, small amount of money in exchange for people completing them. A good example of a such task is doing surveys and coping pictures into text. Since starting out in ...

Phil's Star Wars 10k Outfit

Image
In my previous post where I talked about my (Syd's) 10k outfit , I mentioned I would post Phil's outfit. Well...better late than never right? The basketball shorts are just regular basketball shorts, which I think were purchased at Kmart for under $10. The shirt is cotton and was bought off amazon.com for about $20. And his running shoes are old but where purchased at a sports store (I can't remember which one)
