Phil Writes About Cube: White Cards in Shadows over Innistrad for Peasant Cube
With Shadows over Innistrad fully spoiled, I thought it would be a good time to look at the different cards that I might want to add to my Peasant Cube. For reference my cube can be found here: Cubetutor Link
Let's dig right into white cards.
This Human Soldier is a 3/2 for 3, but if you have four or more card types in your graveyard, he is a 4/2 with first strike. In general, I am trying to push graveyard interactions/themes in my cube so Shadows over Innistrad came at the exact right time. My 3-drop section for white is pretty mediocre right now if you ask me, so this creature should help out there. I really like him in White Weenie and Wx Aggro decks.
This 3 casting 2/2 Human Cleric has a familiar "Soul Sisters" effect of whenever it or another creature enter the battlefield under your control, you gain 1 life. This can be good for aggro or token decks, but the added part of paying two, tapping it, and sacrificing another PERMANENT to transform it into a Blood Artist-like creature puts it over the top for me. I really really like the sacrificing another permanent part of the cost. Not only can you sacrifice your creatures, you can also sacrifice maybe a Tumble Magnet or something that is out of charge counters or something. I could be wrong, but I think this guy is good and am looking forward to playing him.
This is 1 casting 1/1 with flying looks pretty fun. Whenever Topplegiest enters the battlefield, top target creature an opponent controls, and at the beginning of each opponent's upkeep, if you have 4 or more type cards in your graveyard, tap target creature that player controls. In the early game, it comes down and taps an opponent's blocker or a potential threat, but then in the late game, it controls their best threat or taps down a creature that might have a tap effect like Pious Evangel. I am very much looking forward to playing this Spirit in my aggro decks.
Look for more colors as I continue through Shadows over Innistrad!
Thank you,
Philip
