Phil Writes About Magic: Cube Additions 01/03/2017

I added four cards to my cube today and wanted to talk a little about each one of them. A link to my cube can be found here: Cube. I am still working on getting it up to a 360 cube.

Raise the Alarm: One white and one generic for an instant that puts two 1/1 white Soldier tokens onto the battlefield. This is a classic tokens card and for good reason. The two bodies on one card is great with other token or aggro strategies.

Soulfire Grand Master: One white and one generic for a 2/2 Human Monk creature with lifelink, 'instant and sorcery spell you control have lifelink', and two generic and two hybrid blue or red mana for: 'The Next time you cast an instant or sorcery spell form your hand this turn, put that card into your h and instead of into your graveyard as it revolves.

Woah, that's a lot. This creature is pretty insane. Giving all your instant and sorcery spells lifelink gives you a lot of room to work with your burn spells. This ability for four mana is crazy good in burn and control decks. I am excited to finally play with this card.

Bloodsoaked Champion: One black mana for a 2/1 Human Warrior creature that cannot block and has 'return from your graveyard to the battlefield. Activate this ability only if you attacked with a creature this turn.' for one black and one generic.

I really like this reoccurring attacker is one of my favorite in the game. This creature is really good in aggro deck and pretty good in sacrifice decks.

Blood Scrivener: One black and one generic for a 2/1 Zombie Wizard that if you would draw a card while you have no cards in hand, instead draw two cards and lose 1 life. This is no substitute for Dark Confidant, but it will work for now. The ability to draw extra cards for some cost has been everywhere in two casting black creatures lately, I feel, so I wanted to try this one out to see how it does.

Thank you,
Philip
