Phil Writes About Cube: Blue Cards in Shadows over Innistrad for Peasant Cube

With Shadows over Innistrad fully spoiled, I thought it would be a good time to look at the different cards that I might want to add to my Peasant Cube. For reference my cube can be found here: Cubetutor Link

Let's go right into Blue cards this time.

Essence Flux
Essence Flux is another card in the line of exile target creature, then return it to the battlefield. The difference here is that it is a 1 mana blue instance that only gives the creature a +1/+1 if it is a Spirit. I like this card as a way to dodge removal spells as well as reuse enter the battlefield effects. This card might not make it in the long run, but I want to test it out.

Just the Wind
Just the Wind is another Unsummon variant with Madness. With me trying to push graveyard in my cube, this card should fit in with all the cards that let you discard. U/G Madness type desks will really like this card. I am super excited to test this card out.

 Rise from the Tides
I want to try Rise from the Tides out as a finisher for U/x Control decks. I like the idea of maybe putting out 6-10 2/2 Zombies out on the battlefield after stabilizing the board. Again, with the graveyard theme being pushed, this card might be an actual competitor. The future of this card is uncertain, but it is defiantly a card I am keeping my eye on.

 Stitched Mangler
Stitched Mangler is another Frost Lynx with minor differences. I think this card easily makes its way into cube since Frost Lynx has been proven to me that it belongs in my cube. The ability to stall out your opponent's creature one turn is valuable, but the lack of ability to block on your opponent's turn after it comes down might make it less favorable. I like this card a lot, but we will have to see.

 Trail of Evidence
Trail of Evidence is another card I want to try out for U/x Control decks. The ability to cast instant and sorcery spells and fuel drawing extra cards feels very powerful. I imagine casting Ponder, Preordain, or Brainstorm at end of turn, plopping down a token, uptapping, and then drawing an extra card. Also, casting a Lightning Bolt or something with this out feels powerful, too. I hope this card works out.

Next time, we continue through the colors of Shadows over Innistrad!

Thank you,
Philip
