MTG Pack: Dragons of Tarkir #4

Each time I open a pack, I want to write a little bit about each card to make sure that I think about each one individually as it relates to prismatic. When I'm done writing, I am going to add the non-rare or foil cards to my "Phil Plus Syd" prismatic deck. If you don't know what prismatic is or want to see what the decklist currently is, here is the link: By Card Type and By Card Color!

Magmatic Chasm

One red and one generic for a red sorcery that says creatures without flying can't block this turn. I like this card in my type of red aggro decks. I'm not sure how this card will do in prismatic. I could see holding this card for an alpha strike to end the game.

Hardened Berserker

I wrote about it here: Dragons of Tarkir #3

Resupply

One white and five colorless for a white instant. You gain six life and draw a card. The phrase draw a card is always good, but I don't know if it is for six mana. Gaining life is not the best thing, also. Overall, this card is not exciting.

Hand of Silumgar

One black and one generic for a 2/1 black human warrior with deathtouch. I really like the idea of this guy messing up combat. Nobody wants to attack into a deathtoucher. He's basically a removal spell that has legs. I'd be happy to have this guy in a game.

Shape the Sands

One green for a green instant that gives target creature +0/+5 and reach until end of turn. This card is fine to protect a creature in combat or kill a pesky attacking flyer, but I'm not excited about it.

Mystic Meditation

I wrote about it here: Dragons of Tarkir #3

Ojutai's Summons

Two blue and three generic for a blue sorcery that puts a 2/2 blue Djinn Monk creature token with flying onto the battlefield with rebound. Getting two 2/2 flyers out of one card is pretty awesome in prismatic. These flyers will be good on offense or defense. I'm excited to see these guys in prismatic.

Ainok Artillerist

I wrote about it here: Dragons of Tarkir #3

Ancestral Statue

Four generic for a colorless 3/4 golem with when it enters the battlefield, return a nonland permanent you control to its owner's hand. The first thing I like about this guy in a five color format like prismatic is that she is easy to cast because of the no colored mana in the casting cost. She can also be used to reset an enter the battlefield creature, or maybe one that has -1/-1 counters of it. Since it is a nonland permanent, maybe you could return an artifact or enchantment, too. This creature should be fine.

Sprinting Warbrute

One red and four generic for a 5/4 red ogre berserker that attacks each turn if able and Dash for one red and three generic. Big creatures are rare right now in my deck, so this creature should rule right now. I might keep a spell handy to deal with this guy in case my opponent gets him. The Dash is also useful if you want to only attack with him when your opponent is tapped out.

Dance of the Skywise

One blue and one generic for a blue instant that turns target creature you control into a blue Dragon Illusion withe base power and toughness 4/4 and loses all abilities and gains flying until end of turn. I don't know what to think of this card. It is probably a trap because my first instant is to use it on a blocker to trade with a troublesome attacker, but that is a two for one. I guess it could be use to get more damage in as well.

Dromoka's Gift

One green and four generic for a green instant with Bolster four. This card can give a +4/+4 counter boost to your weakest creature and probably turn him into a threat. Since the set-up of this deck is a little unconventional, the weakest creature is probably going to be a 2/2 or better. I will be interested in how this card performs.

Ultimate Price

One black and one generic for a black instant that destroys target monocolored creature. Since almost all creatures are going to be monocolored, this card is just destroy target creature for the most part. I would save it for a really good target or for a sticky situation.

Thank you,
Philip
