MTG Pack: Dragons of Tarkir #9

Each time I open a pack, I want to write a little bit about each card to make sure that I think about each one individually as it relates to prismatic. When I'm done writing, I am going to add the non-rare or foil cards to my "Phil Plus Syd" prismatic deck. If you don't know what prismatic is or want to see what the decklist currently is, here is the link: By Card Type and By Card Color!

Center Soul

I wrote about it here: Dragons of Tarkir #1

Coat with Venom

One black for a black instant that gives target creature +1/+2 and deathtouch until end of turn. I consider this card a bad removal spell in prismatic. It can give a blocker deathtouch to pick off that pesky attacker your opponent has. I'm not sure how it could be used more optimally.

Anticipate

I wrote it here: Dragons of Tarkir #5

Sandsteppe Scavenger

One green and four generic for a 2/2 green hound scout with when it enters the battlefield, Bolster two. With the Bolster two, at the least, it is a 4/4 for five. Not really the best. But, if it could give turn a 1/1 into a 3/3, then it could be fine. I'm not too excited about this card.

Negate

I wrote about it here: Dragons of Tarkir #2

Spidersilk Net

I wrote about it here: Dragons of Tarkir #1

Vuturous Aven

One black and three generic for a 2/3 black bird shaman with flying and Exploit. If you Exploit, draw two card and loser two life. I like having flying creatures, and a 2/3 flyer for four is not the worst. This guy could also be a four mana draw two and lose two if you need more cards. Overall, this card has a couple different uses for a couple different situations. That means that he is probably going to do well in prismatic.

Scion of Ugin

Six generic for a 4/4 flying colorless dragon spirit. This card can probably finish games. Flying is huge, and being colorless lets it be cast for any six lands no matter what they are. This card should be really awesome in prismatic. I am looking forward to casting it in the future.

Ainok Survivalist

One green and one generic for a 2/1 green hound shaman with Megamorph. When it is turned face up, destroy target artifact or enchantment an opponent controls. This card is exactly what I like to see. It is a creature and a card that can get rid of problem cards. Disenchant is sort of narrow to have in a deck like prismatic but having it on a creature makes it a lot better.

Youthful Scholar

One blue and three generic for a 2/2 blue human wizard with when he dies, draw two cards. This card is fine. If I ever draw him, I will probably just keep attacking with him until he dies so I can draw two cards. Time will tell how good he is in prismatic.

Thank you,
Philip
